Newsletter #8 – Summertime

Summer Break & Friday Meetings

Don’t forget that the meeting tonight is our last meeting before our Summer break. We plan to move the meetings to Fridays next year. Our first meeting will most likely be on Friday, September 5th.

Timber Wolf & Explorer Campout and Promise Ceremony

The Timber Wolves and Explorers will participate in our final campout of the year this weekend at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. You can find directions to the park here. As part of this campout, the new adult leaders and Timber Wolves will all make their Promise and earn their berets when they arrive on Friday at 6:00 PM. We encourage all parents to try to be there so you can be a part of this important moment in your son’s life as a Timber Wolf! Your participation is important. Timber Wolves are expected to ask their parents permission to become a Timber Wolf as part of the ceremony. Planned activities for Saturday include canoeing, a live animal presentation, and swimming at the beach. Be sure to bring a swim suit and beach towel in addition to all the usual camping gear you would pack. We will conclude the campout at 10:30 am Mass at Good Shepherd Catholic Church.

Bake Sale Results

Thanks to everyone who volunteered and donated items for our Bake Sale Fundraiser last week. It was a huge success! We made $625, almost $200 more than our last Bake Sale!

Congratulations to Our Otters

A big CONGRATULATIONS to our Otters who made their promises on May 10th! They did a great job and made us all very proud.

The entire Federation of North-American Explorers will be consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the Feast of the Sacred Heart, Friday, June 27th, 2014. We hope to participate in a special Mass that day where all Stella Maris members will be given a special patch representing this consecration. Details will be announced in a future newsletter.
