Newsletter #7 – Welcome New Members!

Welcome New Members!

We’re very happy to welcome all our new members to our Stella Maris FNE family. We had a very successful membership drive last month, signing up 15 new members and two new adult leaders! One very exciting part of our membership drive is that five of our new members are older than 12 so we were able to start our Explorer section. These boys have already chosen “Panther” as their patrol name. We look forward to seeing them soon with a Panther patrol flag that they will be making to represent their patrol.

White and Black “Six” Patches

The Timber Wolves were sent home after the last meeting with a white or black Timber Wolf “six” patch pinned to their left arm about an inch below the shoulder strap. This insignia signifies their membership in one of four possible “six” groups that a Timber Wolf Den is divided into. If possible, please sew those patches in place as soon as possible to prevent the patch from getting lost, the shirt from getting damaged, or anyone from getting hurt by the safety pin.

Pro-Life Prayer Vigil on Good Friday

We will not have a meeting on the Tuesday of Holy Week. However we are asking all Timber Wolves and Explorers to participate in a pro-life prayer vigil on Good Friday, April 18th, in front of “A Choice for Women” abortion center. Otters are also welcome to join us at the discretion of their parents due to the sensitive nature of the activity. All youth should wear their full uniform and will be provided a black armband to wear. Anyone who joins us who does not have a uniform is asked to wear black. Explorers will be volunteering to help the event coordinators distribute and collect prayer booklets and signs before and after the prayer vigil. We will be meeting at 8:30 AM in the northwest corner of the BJ’s parking lot on Sunset and 117th Avenue. We will walk solemnly from there to the front of the abortion center where we will participate in a Rosary with an estimated 200 other people.

Otter Camp Fire Program

The Otters will have their first Otter Camp Fire on the Feast of Venerable Jacques Sevin, Saturday, May 10th at Bill Sadowski Park & Nature Center from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Next Bake Sale

We will have another Fundraising Bake Sale on Sunday, May 18th at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. We need three families to sign up to help after every Sunday morning Mass (8 am, 9 am, 10:30 am, 12 pm) and to donate baked goods and other items to sell. Boys should come dressed in their full uniforms. Please contact Annette Escala to sign up for a Mass time.

Timber Wolf and Explorer Campout

The Timber Wolves and Explorers will have their last campout of the year the weekend of May 30th to June 1st. The event will conclude with 10:30 AM Mass at Good Shepherd. More details to follow in a future newsletter.
